Affordable Care Act (ACA)

The Affordable Care Act is the federal health-reform law that, among many other things, guarantees your right to appeal a denial internally and to an outside reviewer. It also bans coverage refusals based on pre-existing conditions and requires most plans to cover a core set of essential health benefits. Many of the appeal rights people rely on when fighting a denial come from this law.
