Continuity of Care

Continuity of care refers to rules that let you keep receiving treatment from a current provider for a limited time when your coverage changes, for instance when your doctor leaves the network or you switch plans mid-treatment. These protections are especially important during pregnancy, active cancer treatment, or other ongoing care. You usually have to request continuity of care within a short window after the change.
